Land use change impact on urban land surface temperatures: A GIS-supported satellite-based case study

چکیده
This paper illustrates the use of GIS techniques and satellite data in order to analyze impact land change on local urban microclimate. Specifically, a case study is presented that concerns city Vienna. Thereby, satellite-based images were used classify Vienna into four zones toward computation surface temperatures two reference years. The classified maps then statistically projected future, resulting predicted temperatures. findings highlight relationship between urbanization temperature rise context. from Landsat 8 2013 2020. Land cover generated with QGIS for past current conditions future corresponding predicted. analysis highlighted increase correlates urbanization-driven cover.

Impact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature
The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...
متن کاملMicroclimate land surface temperatures across urban land use/ land cover forms
Urbanization brings biophysical changes in the composition of the landscape. Such change has an impact on the thermal environment locally. The urban mosaic of land use and land cover is thus characteristically composed of local climate zones. The spatial variation in the land surface temperature across specific zone is studied for Bhopal city. The objective of the study was to understand how th...
متن کاملA GIS Based Integrated Land Use/Cover Change Model to Study Agricultural and Urban Land Use Changes
Land use and land cover is an important component in understanding the interactions of the human activities with the environment and thus it is necessary to be able to simulate such changes. The authors have developed a national scale, integrated, dynamic time-series simulation model called the ‘Anthropogenically Engineered Transformations of Land Use and Land Cover’ (AGENT-LUC) Model, which si...
متن کاملThe Impact of Land Use/Land Cover Changes on Groundwater Resources Using Remote Sensing & GIS (Case Study: Khan-Mirza Plain)
Hydrological status and water table fluctuations are directly related to land use and/or land cover (LULC) changes in each area. In this research, the impact of LULC changes on groundwater quantity and quality of Khan-Mirza Plain, in the northern Karun watersheds, was investigated. For this purpose, Landsat 5, 7 and 8 satellite images and ETM and OLI sensors were employed to prepare the L...
متن کاملA Gis Based Integrated Land Use/cover Change Model to Study Human-land Interactions
Land use and Land cover form an integral part of all modelling initiatives in case of global change studies and hence, there arises a need for time-series data of land use/cover. As such, we need suitable models to explain the changes in the land use patterns and the resulting land cover and also to forecast them. The model proposed here deals with the development and application of a new conce...
